Up for offer is an antique handcrafted paper lace Valentine card found in an old family bible. The Methodist bible dates 1870 and we believe the card dates between 1880-1890, according to other dated items found with it. This family is of mennonite background, from Kitchener, Ontario originating from Pennsylvania. This charming Victorian Valentine is made of : paper, paper lace, real fabric lace, satin ribbon and die cut embellishments. It is unused with no writing inside. It is decorated with bows, floral and golden swags (missing one gold swag) and a cute heart cupid center. The paper does show typical age patina, making it more of an ivory colour, which adds to it's vintage charm. The back of the card shows two glue spots. Pieces are firmly glued. Measures approx 5" x 7.5".

This antique Valentine Card dates to retro 1940 to 1950, based upon the dates of other cards I purchased from the same estate. The card is Victorian Style, featuring a man and woman walking through a romantic garden. The card is ornately decorated with a red heart in the front center that is trimmed in gold around the edges. There is a pink bow beneath that heart. All around th edge of the card are pink and green flowers with gilt gold embellishment. There is a cut out heart at the top of the card, through which the couple can be seen. It is a tri-fold card, with the two inside pages being as equally decorated as the front. The front of the card states, "Happy Valentine's Day, Darling". There is a message on the inside two pages, which reads: "Life wouldn't be complete for me without your love and you, For everything I hope or plan or do or want to do is center in the love we share. And this just comes to say You'll always be my Darling, for I love you more each day. With Love On Valentine's Day and Always." The initials of the giver are "T.F." (which, based upon other documents I found at the estate sale, are the initials for the husband). The back of the card shows it is a Hallmark card. This is a gorgeous card for the collector's collection, for scrap booking or for the scrap book, or simply for giving. I would recommend the card be given by a man to a woman. The card is in excellent condition. It does not include an envelope. It measures 9" tall and 4-1/2" wide.
