This is an Sweet Antique mechanical valentine! A pretty little girl in her Sailor Suit! Just look at those cute Googlie Eyes and Mary Jane Shoes. She pulls a Valentine out of a hat, when you lift up her arm. At the same time her eyes look sideways as if flirting. It is a large card measuring 6 7/8" x 5 1/8". Printed in Germany.

Wonderful fold out 3D Valentine shows a boat with children inside on the rolling water while a water buoy floats nearby with a heart on it, overhead we see a boy on the lookout atop a lighthouse that is casting light down. The back of the card has wax type paper producing the light effect as well as, making the windows light up all blue when placed in front of a light or in a window. Circa 1920s-1930s Measures Approx 7" long by 9 1/4" tall

Vintage Mechanical Valentine card dating to the 1940's. Shows a sailor boy and a pretty girl. Reads: "Valentine Greetings. Ship away with me, And life can't fail, To be for us a pleasant sail!" The bottom of the card reads: ""To my Valentine. Love brings sunshine to the heart, May yours in mine such joy impart". This part folds down so the card can stand. Card measures 6-3/4" x 4". Condition is very good with no writing on back.

I have been scouring my collectible Valentine card books for any information on this wonderful little fold over heart decorated with floral design on the front and a fold out picture of a little sailor. SUCCESS...There on page 118 of "Valentine Treasury - a Schiffer Book" was the image of the little boy. I always felt like it was the late teens to early 1920's...World War I era. The little boy image was used by the new emerging company called Hallmark Cards. The Hall Brothers started marking the cards using their now famous slogan ...A Hallmark Card...in 1922.

(My scanner does not like the gold - but it is metallic!) This is a traditional folded greeting card, with a sentiment inside. Circa 1930s. Marked Made in USA on the inside of the card. Measures roughly 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches; 4 1/2 by 7 inches when fully open.
